Duties
Provides direct patient care in the Invasive Cardiovascular Cath Lab (CVL) environment. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Coordinates patient care in the CVL and communicates extensively and continuously with physicians, other caregivers, patient and/or family or significant others.

Responsible for patient care delivery that promotes safety, comfort and well being of patients, while following the hospital established standards and practice. Facilitates optimal patient appropriate resource utilization. Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assesses procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the CVL team are met. Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Manages conflicts and competing imperatives. Build customer loyalty among physicians, employees, and community.

Prefer a minimum of one year Cardiovascular Cath Lab experience. Prefer working knowledge of Cardiovascular Cath Lab to include but not limited to equipment, 1st assistant scrub, hemodynamic monitor and circulator positions including ventilator management, pharmacology and IV therapy. Must have working knowledge infection control practices, criteria for standard precautions, national patient safety goals, and all other skills associated with technology and equipment necessary to perform CVL procedures.

Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
Current RN license to practice in the state of Texas
Current CPR/BCLS for Healthcare Providers
ACLS or obtain with 6 - 12 months of hire

Must have 3 to 5 years of current ICU experience.
Must enjoy caring for the cardiac patient population including post angioplasty with intervention, acute MI as well as medical cardiac. Must have experience/knowledge of vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring and ventilators.

Patient?s assessment and time management skills
Must be a team player, have good communication skills and able to work in fast paced environment
Excellent people skills with high focus on customer satisfation
Basic computer skills required

Duties
Hours/Schedule: 7 am - 7 pm, full time, 3-12 hours shift per week; some weekends and hoildays required

Practices within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Serves as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient care.

DUTIES:

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
? assesses the patient
? plans the care of the patient
? intervenes as appropriate
? evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
? Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
? Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
? Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers

Maintains professional accountability
Maintains and enhances nursing skills
Serves as patient advocate
Communicates per department expectations
Provides for patient privacy and dignity
Adapts to changes in workload assignment functioning as Resource/Charge Nurse as needed
