The Hemodialysis unit is in need of a Registered Nurse on a full time basis. The ideal candidate for this position will be a team player with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications for this position include:

* Graduate of an accredited nursing program
* Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Texas
* Current BLS/ ACLS
* Recent critical care or hemodialysis experience preferred

In addition, you must hold a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment. As a part of your daily activities you will be responsible for:

*Working with other team members to resolve patient issues
*Communicate with other care providers in a timely, accurate and complete manner
*Utilize two patient identifies before administering medications or blood products
*Safely administer medication in accordance with medication administration guidelines
*Provide proper medication dosages; uses appropriate route; and is alert to response to medication
*age-specific nutritional and pain assessment is performed and documented and referrals made as necessary
* Adapts care measures to reflect age-specific and developmental considerations
*Performs as resource/instructor of technical skills

This position is part time for a total of 24 hours per week.

Duties
Hours will be from 3-11 Part time working 24 hrs a week

Augments initial nursing assessment data with experiential knowledge to refine patient care plan for critical care and HD patient
Integrates verbal and non-verbal behaviors of patients and significant others to make nursing decisions
Ability to anticipate complications based on collected data
Consistently completes a comprehensive admission history, including the “Home Medication Profile”
Obtains pertinent information from patient/families, coworkers, and other health care provider resources
Performs rapid observational assessment to determine changing priorities
Meets: Needs collegian assistance to determine patient status
Significant: Immediately aware of patient's clinical status, requires assistance to intervene.
Exceeds: Immediately aware of patient's clinical status and intervenes to mitigate negative outcomes.
Assessments that include age specific, cognitive and psychosocial parameters are documented per policy
Patient care follows plan of care (CPM Guidelines, AACN Critical Care Manual, Assessment Policies)
Age-specific nutritional assessment is performed and documented and referrals made as necessary
Age-specific pain assessment is performed and documented and actions taken as necessary
Assessments for signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect are performed and documented and indicated reporting procedures are followed
Communicates patient outcomes to other health team members; informs physicians of changes in patients' clinical status in a timely manner using the SBAR communication method; aware of patients' limitations
Patient/family education and informational needs and barriers to learning are addressed & documented; Educational materials and visual aids are provided at appropriate language/reading level patients/families
Hospital policies and procedures are followed consistently
(Patient Identification, Hand Hygiene, Universal Protocol, Safety Protocols regarding clinical alarms)
Demonstrates proper setup, initiation, monitoring of HD equipment
Provides proper medication dosages; uses appropriate route; and is alert to response to medication that may vary depending on age; consistently uses hospital medication administration system accurately
Functions independently with more complex treatments, procedures, and equipment:
